Essential Knowledge Guide
Getting Started - Opening Remarks
What Mountain Bikes Can DO! will present to you a series of skills/techniques classified by skill levels. There are pictures of terrain and obstacles (some with a video clip attached, click on the photo to play) so that you can get an idea of what is commonly done with mountain bikes at all different levels. Plus, quite a bit of stuff that isn't so common. Those parts are interesting indeed!
Keep in mind, while I use actual skill level categories such as Beginner and Expert, I created the skills/techniques lists in each category judging from years of watching other riders and my own experience. Obviously, everyone isn't the same. Some expert riders may lack a basic skill while some beginner riders may have a natural talent for a more complex skill. Anything goes, but I will no doubt include a skill/technique here and there that many riders not only haven't mastered but aren't even aware of, even though it would prove valuable at that skill level, and is easy to learn.
As you go through the sections, you'll probably reach a point where you start seeing pictures of things you would never consider doing (such as the one below). You can stop going through the skill levels at that point and move on to Anatomy of an MTB. Or you can finish the skills area just to see what other (possibly slightly crazier) folks do with mountain bikes.
